Receipe zick farm - ginger bread

Sliced Garlic Artisan Bread

Ingredients:

4-5 spring garlic greens
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup melted butter
1 loaf sliced artisan bread

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  1. Place the garlic and melted butter into a food processor and mince the garlic greens.
  2. Add the parsley, salt, and pepper and pulse until blended.
  3. Spread the mixture on each slice of the artisan bread, making sure that you put the buttered sides of the slices up against one another as you reassemble the loaf.
  4. Wrap the loaf in aluminium foil.
  5. Place the bread in the oven and bake for 10 minutes. For crispier bread, remove the aluminium foil and bake another 5 minutes.

Gluten-free Breaded Garlic Chicken Breast

Ingredients:

2 cups gluten free bread crumbs
7-8 medium garlic cloves
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup olive oil
3-4 chicken breasts

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  1. Place the garlic into a food processor and mince the garlic.
  2. Mix the bread crumbs, garlic, salt, and pepper together.
  3. Dredge the chicken breasts in the olive oil and dip them into the dry mixture to coat them with it.
  4. Place the chicken breasts on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for approximately ½ hour, until 160 degrees in the thickest part of the breast.
  5. When chicken is fully cooked, place under broiler until toasted as desired on top.

Planting Garlic

  1. Plant Garlic in the fall. 6 weeks prior to freeze. Usually Mid October.
  2. Separate the cloves from each bulb.
  3. Soak the cloves in isopropyl alcohol for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Strain off the cloves and then put cloves into a container with a fertilizer like fish emulsion.
  5. Plant garlic into prepared soil about 2-3" deep about 6-9" apart with the tip of the clove up and the root side down.
  6. Cover the tip of the clove with approximately 1” of soil.
  7. Put 3-6” of mulch over your garlic and wait until spring!
  8. In June, pick the scapes off the top of garlic plants. They are god to eat.
  9. Harvest when you have 5 full green leaves remaining or 50% of the leaves have turn brown from the bottom.
